Node Corporation operatives emerged victorious in a campaign designed to reduce the number of chaos nodes, increasing their count of chaos SEEDs destroyed by nearly 5%. Node Corporation operatives have received a campaign badge, while active Node Corporation operatives also received 10,000 credits.
Opus Spiritum's Dr. Mariana Turba congratulated Node Corporation's operatives, but remained skeptical of the campaign's ability to reduce the number of chaos nodes.
"Despite heroic efforts by Node Corporation, the number of chaos nodes worldwide grew by nearly a thousand over the course of the campaign.
It is because of this fact that I have given authorization today to a program designed to once and for all halt the creation of chaos nodes. Through the alteration of the hyperspatial geometry of the 8th dimension, we will be able to alter the observational dynamics which lead to the formation of chaos nodes."
Opus Spiritum security forces escorted Dr. Turba into a waiting helicopter, leaving questioning reporters and scientists frustrated.
In the weeks since an attack on an Opus Spiritum research center, many have speculated about the nature of the device Dr. Turba was constructing, and her statements that reduntant research made the attack a minor setback. A significant minority of SEED scientists held the view that Dr. Turba possessed a second device, a view that proved correct. At 9:25 PM, PST, SEED devices ceased operations worldwide. Opus Spiritum claimed responsibility for the act, and have announced that an update to the SEED device software would be made available, enabling them to operate in this new hyperspatial geometry.
S.O.S. scientists testing the Opus Spiritum update have noticed that areas of low operator density are exhibiting new behavior: In areas where operators and SEEDs are few, changes to quantum energy density have resulted in extremely large operator reach and SEED range. An Opus Spiritum spokeswoman stated that this reflected the nature of the 8th dimesional change: Energy that would have resulted in chaos node creation is now being channeled into inflation of operator and SEED energy fields.
Hold the Line
While Opus Spiritum insists that these changes will result in no additional chaos nodes being created, S.O.S. urges all operatives to continue to focus on chaos node elimination, until more data is gathered. This week's campaign will focus on this, with the prize once again going to the organization that eliminates the most chaos nodes. This campaign will run until Thursday 22 November at 9:00 PM, PST.
